2026 Lifeguard Certification Classes with Clayton County Parks and Recreation begin in April. This is an opportunity to become a certified lifeguard, and also an opportunity to express interest in applying to become a lifeguard for Clayton County Parks and Recreation.

Interested participants must attend one of the following 3-day class series:

* April 10, 2026 – April 12, 2026

* April 24, 2026 – April 26, 2026

* May 1, 2026 – May 3, 2026

* May 15, 2026 – May 17, 2026

* August 7, 2026 – August 9, 2026

* August 21, 2026 – August 23, 2026

* September 18, 2026 – September 20, 2026

* October 2, 2026 – October 4, 2026

Participants must attend all 3 days in a series to complete the certification.

Participants must also meet all of the following required prerequisites:

* 300-meter swim

* 2 minutes treading water (without arms)

* Timed-brick test (10 lbs. brick)

Participants must be at least 15 years old to get certified, and 16 years old to apply for a lifeguard job with Parks and Recreation. The classes cost $150 for participants who are only interested in becoming certified, and $90 for participants who are interested in applying for a job as a Clayton County Parks and Recreation lifeguard. Adults ages 55+ are invited to enjoy an elegant Black-Tie Affair featuring a gold carpet entrance, photo opportunities upon arrival, catered dinner, refreshments, music, and dancing. Clayton County Parks and Recreation presents: Parents Night Out May Series. We will have fun, games, crafts and activities for the kids to enjoy. This event will be held on the following Fridays: May 1st, May 8th, May 15th, May 22nd and May 29th, 2026, from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM. This event will be held at our beloved Lake Spivey Recreation Center; 2300 Walt Stephens Road Jonesboro, GA 30236. There will be a fee of $20 per child and this event is for children aged 5 – 14 years old. There are only 30 spots make sure to register your child at the front desk or online April 6th, 2026, until slots are filled. Adults ages 18+ are invited to compete in our 8-team league at Virginia Burton Gray Recreation Center, 1475 E Fayetteville Rd, Riverdale, GA 30296 Team entry is $400 and includes team shirts, with an 8-player max per team. Registration runs from April 17 through May 8, 2026. Games begin Saturday, May 23, 2026, and will be played on Saturdays starting at 11:00 AM.
